Radiology and telemedicine professional Peter “Pete” Killcommons is the CEO of Medweb in San Francisco, California. A strong supporter of cross-border support initiatives, Peter Killcommons traveled to Gjakova, Kosovo in 2016 to deliver telemedicine equipment to individuals living in rural areas of the town.
The initiative was organized by the Rotarian Club Gjakova-Cabrati and Colorado, USA’s Rotary Club of Edwards. Rotary International Fund availed a grant to purchase medical devices. Medweb supplied these devices and even sent a team, including its CEO, to deliver and train personnel at the Gjakova Family Medicine Center (QKMF) on how to use the equipment. Medweb’s telemedicine equipment is recognized the world over for its high quality.
The telemedicine equipment delivered included 30 medical devices and three telecommunication laptops. These digital devices were installed in rural medical centers and then linked to QKMF, facilitating communication between primary, secondary, and tertiary healthcare. Now, people living in rural areas of Gjakova can receive quality healthcare services in their rural medical centers because the doctors and patients there can communicate with senior medical professionals from the main family medicine center in Gjakova.
